PhD+ Commercialization: The Patent Process (Part Two)

Licensing and Ventures group (772 Preston Avenue)

Michael Straightiff, Executive Director of the UVA Licensing and Ventures Group, will lead our second workshop on the patent process. Building upon the session from FEB 4, tonight's discussion will dive into the from landscape search and initial filing through the interactions with examiners toward the hopeful grant of the patent.

In preparation for the session, we simply ask that you read the three, very brief, links below if you had not already done so in preparation for our prior workshop. These links will provide you with a quick background into what is a patent, what is patentable, and the conditions of novelty (or "newness") and non-obviousness.
