While this core module is beneficial for PhD students and Postdocs (collectively called trainees) at all stages of training, we recommend participation in early years of training. Participating in early years will ensure that trainees leverage particular window of opportunities for specific fellowships, and develop these fundamental skills and strategies for success in their academic training at the University.
We are creating frameworks for this core module to support you by meeting you where you are in the process:
- Curious but don't know where to begin identifying opportunities
- Considering applying for it but lack confidence and clarity of expectations
- Want to develop skills and strategies to apply
- Learn from experience of colleagues
Research: Discovery funding opportunities for specific disciplines and stages of training
Community: Cultivate a community of practice with peers, peer and alum mentors, faculty and staff advisors
Skills: Learn about expectations and best practices of fellowship writing and applications (e.g. NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program)
Experience: Learn from experience of students and postdocs who received fellowships.
