Propose Your Own Internship: 2022-2023

In addition to arranged internships, we invite applicants to propose an internship of interest with a host of their own choosing. The proposed internship can begin in Summer 2022 or Academic year 2022-2023 and can span one or two semesters between Summer of 2022 and Spring of 2023. 

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a doctoral program at the University, be in good standing, and have completed all degree requirements with the exception of the dissertation. 

PROCESS

To propose your own internship, PhD candidates should follow these steps

  1. Identify an organization of choice and contact potential internship host
  2. Complete this Internship Proposal template with the proposed host. The PhD Plus team will receive the completed form will automatically
  3. Apply through the online application system by 5 pm on March 15th. 

APPLICATION

In addition to the template above, applicants must compile the following materials, in the order presented below, into a single PDF and upload through the online application form (CLICK HERE)

  1. CV (including academic and professional experience)

  2. Statement of interest in a particular internship, including any particular or expected impact on the student’s professional development towards career aspirations

  3. Endorsement of good academic standing and suitability for an internship from Director of Graduate Studies or Advisor

  4. A budget including specific support for the duration of the internship. Please upload this as "additional information" with your completed application. Please note that according to University's guidelines on travel restrictions, PhD Plus internships won't support travel related expenses.
