American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS)

ORGANIZATION

The American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) was formed to further the knowledge of India in the United States by supporting American scholarship on India. The programs of AIIS foster the production of and engagement with scholarship on India, and promote and advance mutual understanding between the citizens of the United States and of India.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

This internship will prepare interns for careers in any of the following: 

  • Academic Research and Administration
  • Communication, Outreach, and Publishing

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

This internship will provide experiences to develop and polish the following skills: 

  • Communication
  • Data Literacy and Fluency  
  • Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Problem-solving and Analytical Thinking
  • Project Management

MENTORING PLAN

The intern would be part of all planning meetings held over zoom and would also work closely with the international learning chair and the strategic communications specialist.

LEARNING OUTCOMES          

The intern will learn about planning and creating web pages and will learn how to plan for and organize programs in India. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The intern would work with the chair of the international learning committee and the strategic initiatives and project specialist on a project around the AIIS International Learning program. The intern would work on creating new pages of the AIIS web site and will also work on preparation work for a planned program to bring students from community colleges and minority-serving institutions to India to learn about opportunities working with US diplomatic and other government agencies in India as well as NGOs.

DESIRED QUALITIES

It would be best if the intern is planning on carrying out their doctoral research on a subject related to India.
