In her role as Assistant Director of Research Development and Training in the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs, Katie supports funding and external professional development opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers across the university. She holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Pomona College and a Ph.D. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia. In her spare time, Katie enjoys cheering on the UVA Women's Soccer team, planning travels near and far, and hearing a good math joke (assuming one exists).
Katie develops the Grant and Fellowship training core module of PhD Plus and serves as lead instructor of the PhD+ skills series for NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. She provides individual guidance to PhD students and Postdocs on fellowship applications.
