American Institute of Indian Studies Administration & Development Internship

ORGANIZATION

American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS).

PURPOSE

AIIS will be marking its 60th anniversary in 2021-22 and would like to celebrate the landmark with some public programs and new initiatives to enhance the profile of AIIS both in India and in the US. AIIS is establishing a 60th anniversary task force. A PhD+ intern will work closely with the task force to plan and organize the programs, work with the AIIS office in India, and work with Indian institutions AIIS hopes to collaborate with. One overall goal is the intellectual engagement and cross-fertilization between US and Indian researchers and institutions. Another goal is to tie the anniversary observances with the pursuit of new revenue streams to fund non-U.S. citizen junior fellows. These efforts would be aided by spotlighting the contributions former non-citizen fellows have made to scholarly engagement between India and the US.
