Understanding and Implementing Equitable Teaching Practices

Equity, inclusivity, and diversity are buzzwords in academia, but what do these terms actually mean, and how are they distinct from each other? And how do we translate our understanding of these terms into classroom practices? In this workshop, we will move from theory to practice by exploring ways to implement these concepts within our courses. Strategies we will consider may include syllabus and course design, activity-based learning, and taking into account students’ individual learning trajectories. The ultimate goal of cultivating inclusive classrooms is to create successful learning experiences for all students, thereby contributing to remedies for systemic inequities in higher education.
