Immigration Options for Academic Careers in the U.S.

Zoom (please RSVP)

This is the first session of the PhD+ Career Pathways for International Researchers in the U.S. series.

Join a panel of UVA experts Adrienne Kim Bird and Linda Callahan (UVA International Studies Office) and Tim White (UVA Human Resources) on immigration options for international researchers interested in careers at universities, research institutes, and research-based non-profit organizations. This panel will focus on F-1-OPT, J-1, and cap-exempt H-1B visas for researchers. This panel is also open to faculty members who desire to gain perspective as advisors or employers of international PhD students and Postdocs. Especially in the current climate, knowledge of shifting timelines is prudent and understanding of implications is critical for timely planning such as hiring and extensions.
