Feedback in Foreign Language Classrooms

New Cabell Hall 323

Description: What are the most effective ways to provide feedback that will enhance student participation? How can some feedback have unintentional negative consequences on participation or learner self-esteem? This hands-on workshop aims to use evidence-based research to address these concerns and create a discussion around the many ways to provide feedback to students. Corrective feedback is the method by which instructors correct a student's mistake in a foreign language, frequently a grammar error. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to recognize the different types of corrective feedback, know the outcomes of feedback on student learning, and be able to implement multiple kinds of feedback in the classroom according to student needs. This workshop is primarily designed for foreign language instructors that teach language and grammar.
