Description: Research shows that a strong sense of belonging in a class and/or academic discipline positively impacts students’ success. On the flipside, a lack of belonging may create significant barriers to student learning, especially for students whose identities are marginalized in STEM fields. Instructors can play a pivotal role in surmounting these barriers by creating an inclusive classroom community. Through this workshop, you will learn simple, yet effective principles for promoting student’s sense of belonging in the classroom and setting them up for success.
