PhD Plus International PhD Career Development Bootcamp comprises 5 interactive sessions. Starting on June 7th and concluding on June 11th of 2021, we will kick off this summer with a 90-minutes session each day to tackle topics commonly faced by PhD candidates and Postdocs with an international background. This series is best suited for PhD students in their candidacy, and Postdoctoral Scholars at all stages of training.

  • Day 1: Today's Career Landscape for PhDs: Focusing on Your Skills and Competencies (Monday, June 7)
  • Day 2: Immigration Options for Academic Careers and Diverse Sectors (Tuesday, June 8)
  • Day 3: Strengths for International PhDs: (Re)Framing and Building Connections (Wednesday, June 9)
  • Day 4: Strategies for Job Search and Application Materials (Thursday, June 10)
  • Day 5: Putting an Application Together (Friday, June 11)

Day 3 Plan

  • Debrief Day 2 and introduction to Day 3
  • (Re)Framing strengths for international PhDs
  • Building your community: Strategies, platforms, and informational interview
  • Session conclusion and assessment, and setting expectations for Day 4

Speaker

Ketan Marballi, Ph.D. - Ketan Marballi is a career development professional and neuroscience researcher with a Ph.D. in cellular and structural biology. He facilitates an international community of practice on coaching graduate students and organizes social and career events for STEMPeers -- a peer mentoring platform.
