Graduate Consulting Club Consulting Alumni Speaker Series: Amaya Wittmaack

The series is planned to help students who are interested or curious in the path from graduate school or professional studies to consulting as a career. This series is formed of five sessions, each hosted by a UVA alum speaking of their journey to consulting providing the audience with a first-hand narrative to observe this unique career path. This event is also open to all students and postdocs.

Speaker: Amaya Wittmaack

Amaya is currently a Consultant that joined The Boston Consulting Group’s Washington DC Office as a Consultant earlier this year. Before joining the firm, Amaya completed an MD at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and an MS in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She completed her undergraduate degree at Stanford University. Prior to completing her advanced degrees, Amaya spent 2 years designing and running clinical trials and conducting medical research and spent 1 year evaluating and implementing international public health interventions while working for a USAID-funded nonprofit organization in Washington DC. While a medical student, Amaya was awarded the Benjamin H. Kean Fellowship in Tropical Medicine by the American Society for Tropical Medicine & Hygiene for her infectious disease research and clinical work in rural Tanzania. During her time at UVA, she founded a data science and research consultancy for largely start-up biotechnology, medical devices, and pharma companies.
